Soi 24

soi 24
There is not much in the way of bars and restaurants on Soi 24. There are however lots of hotels. If you carry on down the road you will get to the excellent Davis Hotel.

Street View

Soi 24
As you can see this is a wide road with lots of traffic. It serves as a through road from the Sukhumvit Road to the Rama IV Road and the motorway.

This is what you find as you go down the street.

Suki Bar

Ramen restaurant
Above Ramen Restaurant this small suki restaurant is very popular. A suki is a heated pot of stock to which you add vegetable, eggs, meat, fish, noodles and other ingredients to cook up as your own individual soup. It is the same thing as they serve in the popular MK restaurant chain. This suki bar is open from 11am to 9pm. It is surprisingly, and inexplicably, a hip hang out for Bangkok urbanites. It gets very busy in the evenings.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass
Lemongrass is a long running Thai restaurant in a converted old fashioned Thai house. It is very popular with locals and tourists and is considered something of a Bangkok institution. The restaurant gets very mixed reviews. However, we say go and make your own mind up. It’s a major stop off point on any culinary tour of Bangkok. It has lots of unusual dishes costing around 200 Thai Baht to 300 Thai Baht a plate. Try the signature dish: Lemongrass chicken. Open 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 11pm.

Krudam Muay Thai School (www.krudamgym.com)

Krudam Gym
Not a restaurant or bar, but a gym dedicated to teaching amateurs and foreigners Muay Thai. Classes at Krudam Muay Thai School cost 500 Thai Baht for adults and 400 Thai Baht for children. Classes run throughout the day from 10am to 9pm. Children’s classes are Friday at 5pm and Sunday at 4pm. Check the website for details. Turn up and train: booking not necessary.

Bouchet

Bouchet
Bouchet is a mussels bar. Popular dishes include lobster bisque, mussels in white wine sauce, baked mussels, mussels in creme fraiche, mussels in spicy bacon sauce and salmon salad. If you are crazy for mussels this is the place for you!

Bibimbab (www.thebibimbab.com)

Bibimbab
Bibimbab  is a smart, modern Korean restaurant. A ‘bibimbab’ is the name of a popular Korean dish with warm white rice topped with namul (sauteed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujung (chilli pepper flavouring) and other toppings such as egg and meat. These dishes cost 220 Thai Baht to 290 Thai Baht. Other options include Korean style fired rice, stew and soup, hansik meats (on a hot iron dish) and a range of deserts. Not a bad option if you fancy a change from Thai food.
