One of the noticeable features of Soi 10 is that it doesn’t have a pavement. Cars, tuk tuks and taxis go up and down the street and pedestrians are left to take their chances walking by the side of the road. Soi 10 is not an easy street to enjoy strolling down.
The first thing you will see as you go down the soi is Chuvit Garden. This small park is open to the public daily from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. The park is owned by Bangkok’s massage parlour ‘King’ Chuwit Kamolvist who is now also an MP. Mr Chuwit was convicted of paying police and army engineers to clear his tenants off this piece of land. To make amends he turned the area into a park, and ran for parliament on an anti-corruption platform. Such are the stories that politics in Bangkok throws up!
Located within the Galleria 10 Hotel, there are two decent quality food and drink outlets. On the Ground Floor is the ‘@g Restaurant and Bar’ open from 6am to 12 midnight every day. Weekdays there is also a buffet at the bargain price of 159 Thai Baht pp all inclusive. On the 8th Floor, there is the stylish Leapfrog Bar and Restaurant with outside seating and tables on the roof of the hotel.
