Funarium, at 111/1 Soi 26 Sukhumvit Road, is a professionally run and high quality play centre for children up to 13 years of age. This isn’t a day care centre as parents need to stay on site with the children, but they can sit in the large cafe restaurant whilst the children are entertained.
The centre is open from 9am to 7pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 8.30am to 8.30pm Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. The cost for ‘small’ children (under 105cm in height) is 180 baht ($6) for 3 hours and an additional 40 baht ($1.30) for each additional 30 minutes. The cost for ‘medium’ children (over 105cm in height) is 300 baht ($10) for 3 hours and an additional 60 baht ($2) for each additional 30 minutes.
The Playzone, where most of the activities take place, has a floor space of over 2,000 sqm. It is split into four parts:
1. Toddler Section: (up to 4 years): With a soft surface, a mini 2 lane slider, and a small ball pool.
2. Junior Section: (4 to 13 years): With a two storey play structure, a trampoline and a 4 lane slider.
3. Sports Zone: With bicycle rink and basketball/football court.
4. Sand & Water: Paddling pool and sand pit (aimed at toddlers)
There is also an Activity Zone with an Arts & Crafts room, and a cooking class room. Organised activities run every day.
The Funarium is also a good venue to hold children’s parties. The centre has 4 themed party rooms of around 40 sqm a piece, each able to accommodate 20 to 30 children. Catering is available.
Funarium has given close thought to health and safety, looking to conform to Western standards. The play equipment has been imported from the UK and is cleaned twice daily. There is also a security team, and robust security procedures in place. Children must be signed out before leaving the centre, and in the company of an identified responsible adult.
